My DNS changes are not working yet?

Any DNS changes you submit via the Control Panel need time to ‘propagate’ based on the TTL (time-to-live) and update around the world, which we do not have direct control over.

DNS TTL (Time-to-live):

By default Ramsu sets the TTL to 30 minutes (1800 seconds) for all DNS records, meaning any DNS changes you make will take at least 30 minutes to become live.

Using the Control Panel you can modify the TTL for any domain:

  1. Log into the Control Panel: https://cp.ramsu.co.nz
  2. Go to the ‘Domains’ section, select the domain you wish to edit, then go to ‘DNS’
  3. If you are using a default DNS template, you cannot modify the TTL, so change to custom DNS settings first
  4. Change the TTL from as low as 2 minutes, up to 24 hours
  5. Click ‘Update DNS Records’

Using a low TTL – Moving Servers

We recommend lowering the TTL on your domain before moving your website between servers, as this will reduce propagation time for the changes to become live.
Afterwards we recommend you return the TTL to the default 30 minutes.
